He mainly painted landscapes in the surroundings of The Hague and in the rural area around Boskoop and Gouda.<\/p>\n<p>His great strength was the rendering of the typical Dutch light, sometimes clear, sometimes diffuse and damp.<\/p>\n<p>Skies fascinated him: &#8220;Light and sky are the great wizards,&#8221; he said, &#8220;Both gray rain skies and clear cloudy skies on a summer&#8217;s day.&#8221; &#8220;Painters can never look at the sky enough.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Weissenbruch taught Victor Bauffe and Th\u00e9ophile de Bock.
